Design Principles - Final Typeface

Which personality traits did you choose to respond to and apply to the typeface?

After initially working with five/six adjectives in relation to my partner, I narrowed it down and took 3 main traits of which I would base my typeface design on. Sporty, Fidgety, Clean-cut, Intellectual, Neat and Reserved

What are the reasons behind the design decisions you have made for the typeface?

Looking at the adjectives, I chose to partially remove extruding serifs from the font Courier new, this was relating to the 'reserved' aspect of the characteristics. I chose to simply highlight the serif using a broken line, this was to portray the idea of my character not being extremely 'in your face' and quite 'reserved' on initial encounter. However upon closer inspection, more detail comes into play. Keeping the letters conformed and quite simple responded to the neatness picked up on in my adjectives. I kept the main typeface separate from the external serifs using solid line throughout to exercise this idea of neatness further.

In what ways are the results effective?

The results achieved by the second weeks progress crit. were rather effective. I managed to achieve the desired effect with regards to the letterings initial impact. The solid line depicted the main body of each letter well leaving the serifs relatively visible.
